Nov. 5 Newsletter: Progress Report. What Just Happened? What Happens Next?

MSC Progress Report: What Just Happened?
What Happens Next?

October 31: One day ahead of schedule, your Ministerial Search Committee (MSC) delivered the Draft Congregational Record to our consultant with the UUA. The Congregational Record is a comprehensive document through which prospective ministers learn about our church and its vision for our next minister. A major undertaking, the Congregational Record is both a candid self-study and the official "job posting" document that encourages prospective ministers to apply for our position.

Early to mid-November: Each congregation that is searching for a minister has a UUA consultant who is a minister. (That is, we have another pair of trained eyes to help us.) Within the next two weeks, our consultant will review our Draft Congregational Record, providing comments and suggestions. We then make whatever changes we decide are needed. And then we file our definitive Congregational Record.

Late November: By the end of the month, we will also submit another, even larger document to the UUA: the Congregational Packet. This collection of materials will include our by-laws, data about our church (the budget, attendance numbers, membership and RE enrollment statistics), results from our Survey, Orders of Service, music samples, information about Worcester and the surrounding towns, and pictures.

In the meantime, we'll be communicating steadily with you. In recent newsletters, you've seen "Phrase Clouds" summarizing things you told us at the Listening Sessions. In the weeks ahead, we'll also be rolling out what you told us in the Survey.
